Are you asking me which term to use, or do you mean “nose stud” when you say “nose ring”?
I don’t think of nose studs as nose rings. And I know for a fact others feel the same way. I only think of nose hoops as nose rings, as they have the same shape as a ring you would put on your finger.
As far as which I prefer, I prefer the hoops to the studs. So if you’re asking me which you should get, I say hoop. But it’s your nose, so regardless of what I say, you can do what you want. ;)
